Other fields of significant interest involve appellate representation, automobile accidents, aircraft crash litigation, Federal Tort Claims, criminal defense, estate litigation and related matters and issues surrounding the delivery of higher education. Mr. Wood is an active member of the Maryland Association of Justice (formerly the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association). He was elected President (1999-2000), President-Elect (1988-1999), Vice-President (1997-1998), Secretary (1996-1997), Treasurer (1994-1996) and has been chair and member of numerous MTLA committees. Mr. Wood has lectured extensively to legal organizations concerning related litigation topics and has been a periodic live guest commentator on Channel 5 Fox Television News in the Washington Metropolitan area and on MSNBC nationally pertaining to legal issues of local and national interest. We have represented adults and children in many State and Federal Courts. He is listed following peer review in The Best Lawyers in America, The Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers, Super Lawyers Magazine and is AV Preeminent rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He was listed in The National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Trial Lawyers in Maryland and in 2011 he was recognized by The Washington Post as one of Maryland's and Washington, D.C.'s Top Attorneys. On November 13, 2010 he was amongst a group of 12 elected into the inaugural class of the Phi Delta Theta Hall of Fame at a ceremony held at the University of Maryland, College Park by his college fraternity brothers. He has also served as Treasurer of the President's Council of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (1998-1999), as Delegate from the State of Maryland to ATLA (1992-1994), was elected Governor of the Maryland State Bar Association (1986-1987), elected Fellow of the Maryland Bar Foundation (1992-present), and elected Bencher, Montgomery County, Maryland Inns of Court (1985-present-now emeritus). He was appointed in 1999 by Maryland's Governor to the University System of Maryland Board of Regents and currently serves on the Board of Visitors of the University of Maryland University College, the Board of Trustees of the University of Maryland Baltimore Foundation, Inc., and the Board of Directors of the University System of Maryland Foundation, Inc. He has served sitting judges as Treasurer and courthouse candidates as Campaign Manager for many elections. He earned a B.S. degree in Economics from the University of Maryland, and L.L.B. degree from the University of Maryland School of Law.
